Yoga and Chant for Liberation

  • Shala Living Yoga 412 West Boone Avenue Spokane, WA, 99201 United States (map)

Please join us on Sunday, December 22nd, at 6 p.m. for a free community yoga practice and liberation mantra meditation. This event is free and for everyone who wishes to join as a community to vibrate powerfully as one voice for the liberation of the people of Palestine as well as, everyone else in this world who is experiencing oppression and suffering. There are many places in the world now that need our voices to call for justice. Yoga, at its heart, is about embodying justice and liberation. It’s a path of action. When others are not free, neither are we. At times like this when our calls for peace are not heard and attempts at aid are not being administered, all we have is our collective voice to rise up in prayer and support. This mantra is made for times like this.

Before we chant, we will practice traditional sun salutations to center our energy and get ready for the mantra meditation. Then we will chant the ancient mantra Maha Mrityunjaya 108 times. This mantra promotes peace and healing through all levels of being within and it creates a vibration that radiates to all around us. This mantra is designed to free us from the construct of the negative fear-based ego and ripen into our full potential as liberated beings. For this reason, it is called the Moksha (liberation) mantra and the great death-defying mantra. Other aspects of this mantra are good health, healing and prosperity for all. When we chant together as a group, this effect is very powerful.

This event is free.

Please bring a water bottle, yoga mat and a folded blanket or cushion to sit on for meditation. We do have some.
